Rapide Hand Camera by J. Fallowfield

The Rapide Hand Camera was sold by Jonathan Fallowfield in circa 1900. It was a magazine camera designed to load twelve plates or cut films. It was constructed of mahogany and covered in the best leather. It was made in two syles. Model No. 1 was fitted with a good fixed focus lens and iris diaphragms and an ever-set time and instantaneous shutter. Model No. 2 was fitted with a good quality Rapid Rectilinear lens and patent variable speed shutter. It also had rack and pinion focusing adjustment controlled from the top of the camera. This camera also contained two view finders and a door with lock and key. Plates were changed by merely pushing a knob at the top, which indicates the number of plates exposed. Exposed plates could be removed by drawing a bolt which releases the door on the bottom, without interfering with unexposed plates. The camera measures 8 x 7 x 4 inches and weighed 3 1/4 lbs. Model no. 1 was originally priced at £2 2s and Model No. 2 was £3 17s 6d.
