The Premier Hand Camera was sold by Jonathan Fallowfield in circa 1898. It was a magazine camera designed to load twelve plates or twenty four cut films using the Newman & Guardia method. It was fitted with a Wray Rapid Rectilinear lens with 5 1/2 inch focus. The shutter was placed between the lenses and had Newman's Pneumatic regulator for exposures of any duration from one to 1/100 of a second. An automatic self capping feature was located in front of the lens. Other features included fine morocco leather covering, a central rack and pinion focusing, two finders with metal hoods. The Premier camera measured 10 x 51/2 x 5 1/4 inches and weighed 4 1/2 pounds. Made in the 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 quarter plate size, originally selling for £11 11s 0 and a 5 x 4 inch size selling for £14 14s 0d. A half plate 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch size was available on special order which originally priced at £18 18s 0d.
