  Spartus Vanguard Camera

The Spartus Vanguard Camera was manufactured by the Herold product company in circa 1961. A small uniquely designed plastic Bakelite camera similar to the rocket camera with a retro styled decorative brushed metal faceplate. Described in an ad as an ideal camera for the entire family. This camera was capable of capturing twelve 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch exposures on standard no. 127 roll film. It featured a fixed focus lens, positive action shutter, an aperture setting for color or black and white photos, and a built-in optical eye-level view finder. A flash gun, accepting no. M-2 flash bulbs and two batteries, were included with the camera. Priced approximately at $3.33 for the outfit. A Black Texan case was sold separately at $2.47.
