The Bolsey Reflex Camera was designed and marketed by the Bolsey Corporation of America from approximately 1942 to 1950's and manufactured by the Pignons S.A of Balaiques, Switzerland. Jaques Bolsey's Alpa company had a similar model in the 1940's, called the Alpa 1, before he moved to the united states. The Bolsey Reflex was first introduced as the model A. Capable of taking up to 36 exposures 24 x 36mm ( 1x 1/12 inch) in size, it featured optional use of reflex, rangefinder focusing and finding. The camera was constructed of a metal body covered in black grained leather with satin chrome plated trim. It boasted an bayonet mount interchangeable lens and a secondary hinged magnifying lens for very close work, that was positioned or retracted without touching the the lens itself. The shutter was a focal plane shutter providing tem speeds from 1 to 1/1000 of a second, plus bulb, body release and cable release. Other features included a coupled rangefinder, deth of field scale and ground glass back. The model A was fitted with a Bolca Anastigmat f2.8 50mm lens, 2 inch focal length. Model G introduced in 1946 was fitted with a coated Angenieux f2.9 Anastigmat with focus from 3 feet to infinity. It was priced approximately at $387. The model H was also fitted with a coated Angenieuz but with f1.8 Anastigmat. The model H was priced approximately at $565.
