The No. 1A Ansco Super Speedex was made by Ansco of Binghamton, New York in circa 1926. This camera was similar to the regular No. 1A Ansco Speedex but with an improved optics. The camera was made of Aluminum and covered in Perisian morocco leather. The camera was capable of capturing 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch negatives on Ansco No. 6A or 6B speedex film or on kodak no. 116 film. The camera was fitted with a Ilex Paragon Anastigmat f4.5 lens mounted in an Acme Speedex shutter with a speeds of 1, 1/2, 1/5, 1/25, 1/50, 1/100, and 1/300th part of a second, plus bulb and time. The camera measured 8 x 1 1/2 x 4 3/8 inches. Other features included rigid front standard with rising, falling ans side to side movement, thumb-lever focusing with automatic lock, Ansco automatic finder, and an optional ground glass back with double cut film holder. The No. 1A Ansco Speedex camera was priced at $60.00.
