The Da-Brite camera was manufactured by Herold Mfg. Co. of Chicago in circa 1951. Constructed of molded bakelite plastic with a built-in view finder that was modern and streamlined in design shape. It was fitted with a fixed focus Rollax 50mm lens and an instantaneous shutter. The camera took sixteen 3 x 4 cm exposures on no. 127 or A8 roll film. Version 1 was made with black or brown bakelite and featured an automatic locking device in the back cover to prevent light leaks. The Da-Brite camera originally sold for $1.30 in 1951.
Note: The first version was made with a completely different design shape. It was more boxy. Both Da-Brite camera versions were similar if not the same to other camera manufacture models with just different face-plates and names. See the Chicago common datasheet.
