  No. 1A Graflex Camera

The No. 1A Graflex Reflecting Camera was manufactured by the Folmer and Schwing division of the Eastman Kodak company beginning in 1909 and production continued until about 1925. Designed to provide all the features of a reflecting camera in the least space possible. Capable of taking exposures 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches on regular 1A Kodak film. Fitted with a Zeiss Kodak Anastigmat lens f6.3. It is matched with a focal plane shutter capable of taking exposures from time to 1/1000 of a second. The reflecting image in the viewer is the same size as the exposed negative.

Constructed of of a milled brass platform, metal frame and leather covering. Features included a safety device which prevents the winding of the curtain when the mirror is up, compact folding focusing hood, retracting bellows and lens with protective door, self centering film spool, and tension springs to prevent the unwinding of film after exposure. When closed teh camera measures 5 1/2 x 9 1/2 x 3 inches and weighs 4 lbs. The 1A Graflex sold for $79 dollars in 1914.
