  No. 3 A Graflex Camera

The No. 3A Graflex Camera was manufactured by the Folmer and Schwing Division of the Eastman Kodak Company from approximately 1907 to 1926. Designed as a complete reflecting camera with film simplicity and convenience. The 3A takes exposures 3 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches in size on regular No. 3A Kodak roll film.

Fitted with a Zeiss Kodak Anastigmat lens f6.3 and a focal plane shutter, that is capable of taking exposures from time to 1/1000 of a second. The reflecting image in the viewer is the same size as the exposed negative.

Constructed of of a select mahogany lock-joined and covered in teh finest Persian Morocco leather. A exposed wood parts are ebonized and harmonize perfectly with the brass parts, which are oxidized giving a rich gun metal finish.

Features included a safety device which prevents the winding of the curtain when the mirror is up, compact folding focusing hood shaped to fit the contour of the face, retracting bellows and lens with protective door, self centering film spool, two tripod sockets, and tension springs to prevent the unwinding of film after exposure. When closed the camera measures 10 1/4 x 5 x 6 7/8 inches and weighs 7 lbs. The 3A Graflex sold for $101.25 dollars in 1914.
