  Home Portrait Graflex Camera

The Home Portrait Graflex camera was manufactured by the Eastman Kodak Company from approximately 1912 to 1942. As the name implies it was designed to accommodate making portraits at home. This camera was available in the 5 x 7 inch size. Capable of accommodating the 5 x 7 Graflex plate holder, Magazine plate holder, film pack adapter or Graflex 7 inch cartridge roll holder.

The main feature was the adjustment of the focal plane shutter speed duration from one-half of a second to 1/500 of a second. Exposing apertures can be added to control the illumination on the image. Another key feature was that the front can swing up or down to correct a false perspective for sitting figures or group shots. This camera was equipped with the revolving or turn-table back for taking horizontal or vertical pictures without having to turn the camera and the focusing hood on its side.

Numerous lens can be employed both short and long focus. The Basic model was provided with a Zeiss Kodak anastigmat f6.3. This camera measures 8 3/4 x 10 1/2 x 11 1/4 inches when closed and weighs 12.5 Lbs. The camera and Zeiss-Kodak lens was priced at $144.50 in 1914.
