The Naturalist Graflex Camera was manufactured by the Folmer & Schwing division of the Eastman Kodak Company from approximately 1907 to 1921. Patented on February 5, 1907 and April 21, 1908. Designed to meet the needs of photographing birds, wild animals or similar subjects where long-focus or telephoto lenses are required.
Constructed similar to the auto grapflex, but with increased length to accodate longer side arms. The original model focusing hood was stationay in the upright postion, later models provided the option to swing the focusing hood horizontally for eye-level focusing.
The Naturalist Graflex will accommodate lenses from a 12 3/4 to 26 inch focus. The basic cmaera was fitted with a Baush & Lomb - Zeiss protar lens series VIIa f6.3. the camera measures 19 x 6 1/4 x 9 3/4 inches and weighs 7.5 lbs. Originally priced at $150.00.
