The Twin Lens Graphic Special Camera was introduced by the Folmer and Schwing Manufacturing company in 1904. Designed for use as a hand camera, so that the image can be kept into view up to and during the exposure. The compact design measures 9 x 7 x 9 1/4 inches when closed and weighs 6.25 lbs.. Constructed of the finest kiln dried mahogany, joint-locked and reinforced. Covered in best quality black grained leather and the exposed parts are finished in ebony and the metal oxidized.
The main features is the telescoping front and rear telescoping view finder. The long bellows front is securely racked out with two heavy brass side arms. Rack and pinion focusing adjustment is operated by a large milled head button. A Graphic rapid rectilinear lens and Graphic automatic shutter is provided. Rising and falling front, both lens are protected by metal covers and movement are geared together. The focusing hood is collapsible and provided with a an eye shield to fit the face. A spring actuated ground glass screen is provided for time exposures and verifying focus of the twin lens. A side door provides access to a rear compartment to carry three double plate holders, or a magazine plate holder or a cartridge roll holder. Optional lens choices included a No. 2 Goerz double anastigmat with sector shutter or a No. 7 series VIIa Zeiss convertible lens with diaphragm shutter. Prices for the basic model was $82.00.
