The Purma Speed camera was distributed by the R.F. Hunter company of London England in the year of 1936. This simple camera was the initial entry for the new company. The Purma speed was constructed of metal with a black enamel finish. The top and bottom metal plates were chromium plated as was the spring-loaded collapsing lens and lens cap. This camera introduced a few new innovations, including a gravity controlled shutter which was not robust if the camera was tilted, an exposure prevention mechanism when the lens cap is installed, and an folding direct view finder. The lens is a fixed aperture f 6.3, 2 1/4 inch focal length, Beck Anastigmat and the shutter provided six-speed from 1/25 to 1/200 of a second. Since production lasted only a short time this camera if quite rare.
